Grief Therapy
Complicated Grief Therapy incorporates a few therapeutic approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), interpersonal therapy (IPT), and prolonged exposure therapy. Because the client’s relationships are part of the focus of treatment, attachment theory is also a focus. The therapeutic approach is also appropriate for instances where grief is combined with trauma. We are able to treat those struggling with symptoms beyond those most common with typical bereavement. More severe cases of grief include: avoidance of triggers, maladaptive behaviors, prolonged grieving, severe depressive symptoms, sometimes suicidal ideation and more.
