Nona Zamiri, LMHC
Nona Zamiri is a licensed mental health counselor with specialized expertise in treating Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and related disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma, and depression. Nona has had remarkable success in leading our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), where she treats individuals with severe cases of OCD and anxiety disorders. Her exceptional patience and compassion, especially when working with children, are deeply appreciated by both her clients and their families.
Nona has particular expertise in treating OCD and OCD-related disorders, including body-focused repetitive behaviors such as trichotillomania (hair-pulling) and excoriation disorder (skin-picking). She also treats a range of anxiety disorders, including generalized anxiety disorder, specific phobias, social anxiety, and panic disorder. Nona works with both children and adults, providing individualized, evidence-based treatment to help her clients achieve lasting improvements in their mental health and well-being.
Nona Zamiri earned both her undergraduate and Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Florida. Her clinical training included a practicum and registered internship at UF Health’s College of Medicine, within the Department of Psychiatry and Division of Psychology. During her time at UF Health, Nona provided therapeutic services across a variety of settings, including inpatient, outpatient, and specialty clinics. In particular, she excelled within the OCD Specialty Clinic, where she successfully provided both outpatient and Intensive Outpatient Therapy (IOP) for patients dealing with mild to severe OCD and related disorders.
Nona’s diverse training includes a wide range of therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Person-Centered Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Feedback Informed Therapy (FIT), Habit Reversal Training (HRT), and Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics (CBIT).
Nona is dedicated to providing a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can feel empowered to confront challenges and initiate meaningful change. She works closely with individuals to develop collaborative, personalized treatment plans that align with their goals and values. By encouraging value-driven behaviors and listening deeply to her clients, Nona helps them move toward a more fulfilling, balanced life.
